There was no better way to let those of Mystic Falls know that she was back in town but with a night out on the town. Her first stop of the night? Would be the Mystic Grill. Katherine was dressed to the hilt. A lacy back dress that shown off the womans curves, legs, and tanned skin graced the lithe body of the vampire. Heels gently clicked the cement as she crossed the street and moved towards the door of the Grill.
So far all had been quiet with Katherine. She had kept to the shadows since the death of Stefan. She knew many were probably looking for her, for such ultimate betrayel. One surely had to be Klaus. Without a doubt, she knew that he was looking for her. Oh well. At the moment, she just didn't care about anything but getting a drink inside the Grill.
She pushed open the doors of the establishment and walked casually inside. For being gone as long as she had been as of late, this was one of those places that never seemed to change. Brown eyes turned from left to right in curiousity. The workers of the restaurant were doing their own things. Coming and going and taking orders of food. For a week night, this place seemed rather busy.
With her small hand purse in left hand, she moved over to the bar and paused long enough to decide what she wanted to drink. Katherine ordered a shot of rum and then dug into her purse for her money. Setting the cash to the bar and waiting for her drink, she lowered down to a bar stool. As she got comfortable, she let out a sigh. Boredom. She couldn't possibly be this bored tonight, could she? She glanced around one more time to see who all was within the place and to see any familiar faces.

Post by Niklaus "Klaus" Freiherr on Feb 13, 2013 11:03:17 GMT -8
Unlike Katherine, Klaus was keeping a rather low profile at the moment – while he didn’t see many of the residents of Mystic Falls as a threat in any way, he didn’t quite want to let them know he was strolling through their quaint little town again. Not right away, at least. Fortunately, he and Damon had been gone traveling for long enough that no one seemed to be on high alert for him, and despite his (handsome) recognizable face, he saw no one that knew him. Not as more than “that British-sounding guy” at least.
But he had chosen to head out to the Grill tonight – because why not? He fancied a drink in the familiar public space, and he wasn’t all that worried about seeing anyone. It was a week night – and like good little students, most of the still-stuck-in-highschool “enemies” he might have had were nowhere to be found. He had taken the chance to make sure Matt and Jeremy weren’t working that night either, but he likely could have compelled either of them if he absolutely needed to.
However, the one person that Klaus was not expecting to see was exactly who his eyes landed on when he slipped in through the front entrance. For a very brief moment, he guessed that it was Elena – which was far less surprising – but unlike so many of the easily-fooled residents of Mystic Falls, he could tell quickly just who this was. Expectedly, his mood darkened considerably.
But, of course, Klaus had never been one to let something like that stop him from acting, right? Right. Instead, he plastered his most charming grin on his lips, and made his way to the bar stool beside Katherine. He made himself comfortable and ordered a scotch, waiting until it arrived and he took a sample sip before he finally turned his attention in the vampire’s direction. She was lucky they were in such a social setting – for now. The thing was, Klaus didn’t have any qualms against following her out into the night, or wherever else he might have to go.
“Well well, look what the cat dragged in. I didn’t think you would be showing your face around here for the next hundred years or so. But then again, you have a very… unique sense of self-preservation.”

There wasn't much at the Grill that seemed to capture the womans interest for any significant amount of time. Yeah, there were a few guys at a table that were quite the delightful sight to see. There was even two men playing a game of pool that Katherine noticed. Bleh. She could have her picking who to enjoy that night, but that wasn't on the top of her to do list. For now, she wanted her darn drink. What was taking so long with it anyhow?
She shifted in the bar stool and used the edge of the bar to turn herself back around. It so happened, it was at the same time that the bartender brought back her shot. Just as she took it in her right hand, she spoke to the bartender. " This time, I want a rum and coke. Thank you." She smiled to the bartender and then brought the shot up to moist lips and swallowed it down. It warmed her on the way down.
She had just licked the remamants from lips with the swipe of her tongue when she heard that voice. That accent and the man that carried it, was one that Kat knew well. Did she tense at knowing Klaus was there? If she had, it wasn't openly seen but contained within her. She seen from the corner of her gaze that he took the seat next to her. Scotch? Should of known the man would chose that to drink. It was one of his faves, wasn't it? The bartender had given her the rum and coke she ordered and set it down before her. Kat exchanged the grasped shot glass for that mixed drink. She took a small sip before she bothered to reply. This gave her time to think of how to handle Klaus being there and being beside her.
" Hello Klaus. Yeah, nice seeing you are here as well. As for me being back? And gone for the next hundred years, did you really think I could stay away from the daily life of Mystic Falls for long? There is always some sort of itty bitty business to tend to. What gives, why are you here?" She turned just enough to cross a leg over her other and face him. Best to never keep your back to this man for two long. She let her gaze roam along the man she had known for ages.

Klaus hadn’t exactly expected a big response from Katherine. She was, after all, one of those people who prided themselves in being utterly unshakeable. It was incredibly rare for someone like her to be visibly rattled – or even tense. Then again, Klaus had seen her in such states before, and would be so very entertained by bringing out such a reaction now, but he wasn’t surprised. And he could wait – she probably wouldn’t be so aloof and arrogant when her life was on the line and they weren’t surrounded by ignorant humans. (Not that that was all that stopped Klaus. He didn’t really care about them; he just didn’t want to draw attention to himself. He could always stake Katherine in an alley someplace. He was patient.)
Klaus waited quietly for the bartender to return with his scotch, watching Katherine out of the corner of his eye. He could almost see the gears working in her mind, scrambling for the correct response. He must have really caught her off guard, he noted, since she was usually so on the ball with her sarcastic wit.
However, when she finally did turn toward him (after receiving her drink – and after Klaus had received his as well), he met her with a wide, secret grin. To the general bystander, they were comfortable acquaintances – maybe even friends – but he had a feeling that Katherine would see the threat behind his positive features, the death warrant for her sitting in his eyes. She had killed one of his little toys, after all – and had caused endless trouble for him since she escaped his grasp all those years ago. He had tired of her, and that was never a good thing.
“Working on some of my own itty bitty business,” Klaus responded, sipping at his scotch. One eyebrow arched up on his forehead. “Nothing you really want me to get into, I’m sure.”

The drink in her hand was given another once over. She tipped the glass side to side idly, letting the noise of the ice shaking inside fill her thoughts. Life was kind of like those ice cubes wasn't it? At times, so still and so cool..or even welcomed by some. At other times, one just had to give that shake to rattle things up some.
Leave the shaking up part to Katerina. She was good at making life unstable when she wanted. She could be your favorite little pet or your worst and most hated foe. Her gaze lifted. She met the gaze of Klaus in time to catch his smile. A smile she had once loved. She really had to question her way of judgement at times. What had she ever been thinking - to get involved with this bastard? Ooh yeah, that's right...she loved to dance with the devil. She brought the glass up to lipstick covered lips and swallowed down another swallow. The woman shifted so that she could set the tumbler down on the bar with ease. Slowly she lifted up to stand.
When she was fully upon those feet of hers, her hand came out and brushed along the cheek of Klaus. She then patted his cheek lightly. Daring and tempting at the same time. Something Kat did without even thinking really. " Nik, come on now.. you know I just love all the latest gossip of Mystic Falls. Especially all the heartache you bring about." She stepped to the side of him, motioned him to follow her with a curl of one finger on that hand that had touched him. She then casually walked towards the pool table and began racking up the pool balls for a game of pool.
