Contrary to the popular beliefs that most people held for women who had children at a young age, Alina wasn't afraid to admit that her decision to keep Aidan had been on of the best in her life. Granted, making ends meet could be a challenge occasionally if she lost ours at work or served people who didn't bother to tip but watching her son grow a little more each day was more than enough to make every single struggle she encountered more than worth it. Besides, she had to admit that having a child did have a few perks. Not only did he keep most people away when she wasn't in the mood to talk, but he could also brighten her worst day with just a single flash of his beautiful smile. Though there were times when her three-year-old worked her nerves to no end, she'd never once regretted her decision and highly doubted that she ever would. As far as she was concerned, Aidan was her world and that's all there was to it.
If anything, it was when Alina was forced to leave her son that she felt awful. Despite the fact that she knew he was in safe hands with his dad and that her job was helping pay the bills, it didn't exactly relieve her of the guilt she felt at not being able to spend as much time with Aidan as she wanted. Nevertheless, the night shift at the Grill made the best tips and so she'd taken the job without question nearly a year over when it had first been offered to her. Not many places had been hiring at the time and a crappy job was better than no job at all. At least, that was how she chose to view it. Groaning in frustration as she glanced at the time on the dashboard of her car, she couldn't help but feel even worse at the fact that she was running late. I'm not even going to have a job if I can't even get there on time, she told herself silently as she pulled into the employees' parking lot behind the restaurant. Something tells me the boss isn't going to keep me around if I can't even be depended on.
Luck seemed to be somewhat on her side, however, as Alina managed to find a parking space almost immediately. Maneuvering in as quickly as she could manage, she shut off her car before throwing her hair into what most would consider an 'acceptable' ponytail. Glancing into the mirror to make sure she looked okay, Ali jumped out of her car and practically ran inside so as to hope that she could manage to snag some table before her boss realized that she wasn't as late as she was. Slipping in through the back door, she hurriedly made her way through the kitchen and out into the lobby before grabbing an apron off the shelf and tying it on. After managing to get it in a knot, which took longer than it should have because her hands were shaking slightly, she grabbed a pad and pen from the drawer beside the cash register and gestured to one of the other waitresses on duty that she needed her for a second. Shifting her weight nervously, she couldn't help but wish that traffic hadn't been so bad. Either that, or she'd left earlier for work.
"You know you're late, right?" asked the red-haired girl once she'd finished checking with one of the booths she was handling. "Carl's gonna kill you if he figures it out that you've been missing for almost a half an hour." Flinching at the tone behind her coworker's words, Alina couldn't help but pray that no one had ratted her absence out. "I know Tessa," she said hurriedly, not wanting to be standing around in case her boss made an appearance just then. "Trust me when I say I'm not planning on making this a habit. Liam was late getting off work and then traffic was awful..." Trailing off when the other girl's expression let Lina know she couldn't care less, she simply sighed before shaking her head. "Never mind. I was just wondering what section I have tonight." Thankful when Tessa just pointed out a group of booths on the left wall of the grill, she nodded once to show her gratitude before hurrying over to the nearest booth in which a dark-haired guy in a leather jacket had his back to her.
Flipping open her book, she plastered a smile on her lips as she stopped by the end of the booth. Her first glance at the young man left her speechless for a moment, as he was definitely one of the better looking customers she'd had in the past week or so. Holy cow, she thought to herself, unable to keep from staring for a second. If I wasn't engaged with a kid I might definitely try to talk to him. Still, Carl frowns on flirting with the customers so I guess he's a 'no go'. It was only because of her remembering that pet peeve of her boss's that Alina was able to clear her head long enough to find her voice again. Taking a deep breath, she found that she no longer had to force a smile as the one dancing on her lips now was completely natural. "Hey there. My name's Alina and I'll be serving you tonight. Can I start you off with something to drink?" Hoping that he wouldn't notice the slight flush of color that her face had gained, Alina was careful to hold his gaze as she listened closely in order to hear his answer. Let me know if I need to fix anything <3 |

Leaning back into his chair, Damon closed his teal eyes and ran a hand through his shaggy hair. He'd had it cut in order to quell the curls that he'd had as a human, but it grew despite the fact that he was a party of the undead. Despite the fact that he was sterile and that he consumed blood, everything else functioned the way it should. Maybe he'd grow out his hair again, it seemed to him that girls liked curly haired men. He needed a distraction tonight, someone to distract him from the world around him. It wasn't easy to distract Damon Salvatore, but it seemed that he was distracting. His enhanced senses were capable of picking up the stares and whispered comments of the girls at the bar around him.
It wasn't anything new, he reveled in it. Damon was used to being accepted by strangers, but not by his family members or people who knew the real Damon Salvatore and not the facade leaning back in his chair with a hand gently resting on his cheek. Stefan, his father, Katherine, Elena, he'd been lied to and abandoned throughout the course of his life and it was no longer a surprise. That was why he frequented the bars and had earned himself a reputation of being Mystic Fall's Casanova.
He didn't mind too much. He had been called worse after all, and that was what he wanted to be. A ruthless vampire who sucked blood and slept with women, only to erase their memories of the pleasurable experience.
By the sound of it there was a new waitress. Damon snapped his eyes open and turned his head to get a peek. She was talking to a co-worker, and he turned his head away in order to blend in, and scanned the menu. The food here was cheap, but he still ate it. It was nice to pretend that he was human, but also rather painful. Which was why he was looking for a little fun tonight. The waitress did not sound too happy though.
Turned out he was in her section tonight.
He listened to the sound of her graceful footsteps, but they turned less graceful once she found his table, and he couldn't help the cocky grin that slid up his face.
"I'm Damon," He greeted her, his smile only growing wider when she spoke.
He'd love a drink, and obviously she had great circulation judging by the rouge her face had turned and the increase in her pulse.
"I'll have a beer," He answered politely, and his eyes did that thing that Elena had once complained about.
He could not control that look, or his face very well. To tell the truth Damon was enjoying this far too much, and he liked the fact that Alina was rather flustered. Too bad he couldn't get Elena's olive cheeks to flush in such a bright color like that.
He tilted his head to the side to watch her curiously, an innocent expression. But Damon Salvatore was far from innocent, after all. Stefan had taught him that much. But, Stefan was not in Mystic Falls at the moment, so he could not stop his brother from using someone as a blood bag for the night.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; background-color: #343434; padding:20px; border-top: 10px crimson solid; border-bottom: 10px crimson solid;] won't you please save me (WORDS) 788 (TAGGED) Damon (Outfit) Click! Honestly, there were a hundred other places Alina would have rather been on a Friday night than picking up an extra shift at the Grill. Granted, she wasn't really a presence in Mystic Falls but the idea of simply relaxing at home with her fiance and son for once instead of having to rush off to work the moment Liam walked in the door would have been paradise compared to the next 5 hours she was about to spend on her feet. It wasn't that she hated her job or anything like that, rather the opposite. Obviously anyone in their right mind wouldn't exactly love waiting tables for a living but the pay was decent and she had to admit that the guaranteed hours weren't bad either; especially when she had bills due each month. Having never been a slacker, she had no intention of sitting around the house all day just because her soon-to-be husband had a job that paid well enough to support all three of them on his own. No, she had the capability to work and so that's what she was doing.
That being said, the one thing she wasn't really a fan of were her coworkers. The fact that she'd spent her high school years working on a farm instead of partying the nights away with Mystic Falls' more popular bunch of kids her age didn't help her any as it was obvious that quite a few of the girls she'd graduated with viewed her as something of an abnormality. That, coupled with having a three-year-old, meant Alina didn't have time to spend hanging at the mall. Oddly enough, however, that was fine with her. Even if it meant being looked down upon by the rest of the town's inhabitants, she was happy with the way her life had turned out so far and that's what mattered. Still, she had to admit that being treated like she was a nobody by her own coworkers, many of whom she'd attended high school with, did sting a little. Her father had raised her to be kind though, which was one of the only reasons she bit her tongue where Tessa was concerned and figured she better get to work before Carl showed and got on her ass as well.
After all, she noted absentmindedly as she made her way up to the only occupied booth in her section so far, it's not like I'm living my life to please others. If they want to judge me without knowing who I've become over the years then let them. The last thing I need to be doing is worrying about what others think of me anyways. With that final thought, Ali allowed her silent musings to drain away as she forced her brain into work mode. Though it took her a moment to get over just how handsome her first patron of the evening was once her gaze happened to find his face, it was the sound of his smooth voice that really got her pulse going. Obviously she had no intention of doing anything with him due to the fact that she had a fiance and baby waiting for her at home but there was nothing stopping her from a little innocent flirting. Besides, if it would make the evening go by faster than what harm would it really do? There wasn't a doubt in her mind that this Damon(as he'd introduced himself) could get any girl he wanted so why on Earth would he want her?
Unable to keep a pool of blood from rushing to her cheeks, coloring them a noticeable rosy pink as heat filled her face, Alina could only pray that he wouldn't notice her obvious appreciation of his male beauty. Desperate to hide the way she couldn't believe he was making her feel with a simple look into those crystal blue eyes, it was by sheer willpower that she managed to pull herself together long enough to introduce herself as his waitress for the evening and inquire as to what his beverage preference might be. Not wanting to be rude by completely ignoring the fact that he'd offered her his name, Lina quickly managed to work it into her answer. "Well it's a pleasure to serve you Damon," she replied easily, surprising herself with how confident she sounded despite how breathless she felt just then. "and you said a beer. Will that be all for the moment or can I interest you in an appetizer of any sort? I believe the beef soup and house salad are our specials tonight." Allowing a small smile to dance across her lips, she waited patiently(and somewhat curiously) to hear his response. Sorry for the wait love >.< |

Damon was at the Grill constantly. After all, it seemed that this was the only place in the entire state where teenagers congregated to gossip and joke around with one another. As a Salvatore, it was his duty to be easily in found in social places. In the modern world his name carried as much weight as it had when he was human, before the transformation. Oddly enough, the Salvatore with the most confidence in his current form was the one who had initially refused the change in the first place and Stefan had embraced it. Of course, centuries later, Damon was still trying to save his little brother's life no matter the cost. And because of a stupid choice that Stefan had made. Because of his little brother he had not been allowed to die for the second time and here was Damon trying to repay the favor once more.
By sitting at the Grill, planning to order an alcoholic drink with his meal,(one would bring down his thirst, the other would entertain him and eradicate his thirst completely) and listening to teenage gossip, of course. Stefan could not complain, at least he was not fulfilling his fantasies with Elena Gilbert at the moment. He was trying to find a subsutite for his affections and his blood lust. After all, draining a human being of blood was actually intimate in the vampire world. If he could have kept her alive, it was a sign of trust. It would also be a sign that Elena had accepted who and what he was, if that would ever happen. It never would, though. Damon was arrogant, but he was intelligent. Stefan was always going to be Elena's choice.
He might as well enjoy himself if he was not going to be able to enjoy himself with Elena, after all. Besides, now that Stefan was gone, there was no one around to constantly be a downer and to ruin his plans with anyone. No one could blame him for picking the server girl, could they? Alina. His eyes grazed down her neck and watched her pulse for a second before returning his gaze back to her face. She probably wouldn't notice. Humans were daft that way.
Unfortunately, Damon could not work a way to reveal his last name into the conversation, so the reaction would have to be saved for a later time. If only he knew that tonight would not be the last time he saw Alina, maybe he would have changed his treatment of her. Time isn't straight though, there would never be one specific outcome of the situation, it all depended on the choices made.
"I'll have the special," Damon responded. "As for the appetizer, what would you suggest?"
It was that musical tone he used when Damon knew he was going to get his way and he was happy about it. Humans were easy to manipulate after all, as they were much less experienced than their supernatural counterparts. And if he could not get her alone on the pure magic of words, then there was always compulsion for him to fall back on.

Though she would have much rather been home spending time with her fiance and son, Alina knew that she had a duty where contributing to the bills were concerned. While Liam's job paid more than enough to cover their bills, it still wasn't enough for all the things Aidan required in everyday life such as clothes, food, and lots of toys to keep him occupied. Besides, she liked having a little extra money for when she saw something she liked enough to purchase for herself - not to mention every penny she didn't spend was going into one of two savings account. The more important one right now was the college fund she and Liam had set up so that they could start putting back a little money out of each paycheck so that Aidan could go to college if he so chose when he grew up and the other one was their wedding fund. The way things were looking, they would be able to have a small wedding in the coming summer as long as neither of them lost their jobs and she had to admit that the idea pleased her far more than she was willing to say aloud.
It was because of that knowledge, more than anything, that kept her going in the times when she missed being home with her own small bit of happiness and so - even though the idea of calling in and staying home with Aidan and Liam had sounded almost irresistible - she had sucked it up and gotten her ass to work. That being said, she'd still been late and made a mental note that she really needed to work on her timing if she actually wanted to keep this job. Suiting up as quickly as her nimble fingers would allow, she paused only long enough to get her section assignment for the evening along with an order pad and pen before heading out onto the floor. At least it's not a full shift, she told herself mentally in an attempt to get in a slightly better mood as she couldn't afford to accidentally snap at any customers. Lindsay's on bartending duty tonight which means I get to go home as soon as the restaurant closes, which is something of a godsend as far as I'm concerned. I just hope I'll be home early enough to tuck Aidan in and tell him goodnight.
Pulling herself from her thoughts to attend to her first customer of the evening, Alina couldn't seem to keep from blushing crimson at the gorgeous guy before her. She didn't usually find complete strangers attractive as Liam was more than enough to keep her completely satisfied both sexually and emotionally. That being said, there was something about the dark-haired man who had introduced himself as Damon seated before her that almost seemed to awaken some deep part of herself she didn't even realize existed and drew it to the surface. Maybe it was the unnatural blue of his eyes, or possibly it was simply the fact that every ounce of her body seemed to feel he was dangerous in ways she couldn't understand. Honestly, she couldn't be sure and, in that moment, she really didn't care. After all, it's not like anything was actually going to happen between them. She had a fiance and son waiting for her at home and there was nothing that could make her risk messing that up. That didn't mean she couldn't think about him though, which was exactly what she ended up doing as she waited for his answer.
His sudden response brought her crashing back to reality, however, and Alina only blushed an even deeper shade of red when she realized that she'd practically been fantasizing about a man she'd never met before tonight. Of course, the rather obvious innuendos that he managed to slip into his response - unless she was reading far too much into his answer which was quite possible given how plain she was compared to him - didn't help in the slightest and her eyes found the order pad more quickly than some would think possible as she wrote down his order in an attempt to distract herself from Damon's piercing blue gaze which she found both sexy and unnerving. That could only work successfully for so long, however, and she soon found herself entranced once again as she looked up in surprise when he asked her opinion on an appetizer. "Well..." she began slowly, trying to think of the best appetizer the Grill offered and failing miserably for a long moment. "Oh! We got a new shipment of mozzarella sticks in two days and they're really good. Just ask my son. I swear, he would kill for them." Pleased with her response, she offered him a small grin as she waited for him to speak again. Sorry for the horrendous wait lovie! >.< |
