If Lysander had expected anything from his trip to America, (he was still regarding it as a vacation, not a permanent home) getting into a committed relationship wasn't it. He was still surprised that he and Ben had been spending so much time together recently. After their initial meeting in the bookstore, Ben had started helping Lysander with his English, and now they were on a date.
Lysander hadn't exactly meant for it to be a date when he had asked Ben if he would do something with him. It was just that it was Valentine's day and the witch did not want to be alone. But then he had decided at least to dress up and look nice for when Ben came over to his place. They didn't have a clear plan, but Ben was supposed to be here soon and Lysander felt rather naked even though he had rented a suit for the occasion.
He had even managed to get his grandmother out of here for a couple of hours, in case Benjamin decided he was okay with staying at the old house for a date. Lysander personally thought it smelled like old lady, and he wasn't sure how well it was going to go, considering Ben wasn't aware of all the details of Lysander's circumstances. He had only gone as far to say that he had fallen out with his family, but didn't bother with the fact that he had been disowned and was living with his grandmother while he worked up enough money to get himself another place.
He had spent the last forty minutes ridding the living room and other areas that Ben might go into of any evidence of the occult. Two witches living together tended not to think that owning several huge candles and other various objects used in rituals was abnormal.
If this was just to make sure that he wasn't alone on valentine's day, why was he so worried Benny's opinion on his place?
Because, maybe, just maybe, Lysander had a little crush on him. Ben was intelligent, silent, and attractive, even if looks were not the first thing that Ly ever saw in people. It helped that his self taught French was perfect, making the whole thing less awkward and made Lysander drawn to him, even if it was just that he had found someone he was actually comfortable speaking around.
It was an understatement to say that when Lysander heard a knock on the old wooden door of the house, he panicked. After taking another thirty seconds to make sure that his apartment was clean and ready to go, he tightened his tie and straightened his clothing before opening the door to face Benjamin.
"Hi," Lysander said.
He wasn't trying to show off his English skills or anything like that, like a student with a crush on his teacher. Not all.
He opened the door wider for the taller man to step through and said,"Come in."
