The week had felt like a long one, though Sage really didn’t pay much attention to the length of time it took to pass from Monday to the end of Friday. Either way, school was done for the week and she’d spent the entirety of it tutoring her crush, Alec Miller, in History so he didn’t flunk Mr. Saltzman’s class. The guy was smart, she knew that. But he lacked the motivation to actually do the work because he was so pulled into the world of football. Not that it wasn’t a hot look on him – the football player look. After all, she did have a thing for him… Nope, not going there. Don’t even think about fantasizing, you don’t even know if he likes you.
Sage knew that the little voice in the back of her head was right, it almost always was. Either way, she was sitting in the living room on a Friday after school with Alec Miller, studying History, and all she could think about was what it would be like if he kissed her, or she kissed him. God, she was such a school girl. Blushing faintly and looking down at her text book, she shook her head. Thinking like that wasn’t going to get her anywhere. Besides, she was right. The odds that Alec was into her were pretty slim at best and she was a witch, how would she deal with telling him that little tidbit?
The house was relatively quiet. Carter was out with his friend she thought.. What was the girl’s name again? Danielle? So, they had the house to themselves, which was a fairly good thing. Not that Carter was much of a distraction. He wanted his brother to pass just as much as she did, so he let them do their thing. It was a little weird though, seeing him here when she went to the grill all the time and only really spoke to him there. Looking over at Alec, she smiled. She wondered vaguely if he was actually getting into the whole History thing, “C’mon, lets take a bit of a break, we’ve been at it for a couple hours now.” she said, tucking her hair behind her ear and gently reaching over to cover the page he was reading with her hand, “Earth to Alec.”

It had been such a strange week for Alec, where normally he would have spent all of his time on the football field practicing for the upcoming game, he had instead crammed more useless history facts in his mind that he could ever hope to remember. Luckily for him he didn’t have to remember them long, and he had a fantastic study buddy. He glanced up for a moment at Sage before returning his gaze to his text book wondering not for the first time if meeting her had been some kind of fate or something. ‘Focus Alec…’ He reminded himself for the hundredth time as he forced his eyes back to the words in front of him. But a majority of the words just skimmed right by his eyes without being comprehended. He just couldn’t seem to wrap his head around the lessons from the past, it just wasn’t as interesting for him as it was for her, but he was trying for the sake of passing. And oddly enough she had been very supportive over the last week, patient even in his slow learning and lack of desire to even look at his history book.
Honestly if she hadn’t been devoting so much time to helping him, he probably would have been screwed and trying to bribe Saltzman into passing him. As he scanned down the page trying to pick out segments he thought might be included in the test he was surprised to see her delicate hand reach over and cover the page. “Earth to Alec” He blinked at it for a moment before looking up with a sheepish grin. “Sorry, I guess I was really focused.” He leaned back on the couch and stretched his arms over his head. The move felt so good that he continued the motion and stretched from the tips of his toes to his finger tips before settling back into the couch again. He flashed a smile at her and ran a hand through his stylishly unruly hair. “How long have we been working anyway?” He looked around him wonderingly, knowing it had been at least 2 hours since they had started. The house was quiet except for the radio from the kitchen which was almost always on at a low hum just for background noise. Carter had left for the day to go to work, so Alec and Sage had the house to themselves to study until their heads exploded. No one seemed to be happier about the arrangement that Carter who was just happy to see Alec putting in the work to pass.
Now if Alec could only get him to stop giving him the look every time that he said Sage was coming over they’d be all set. It was almost like Carter suspected there was more to their relationship than there was. Not that Alec hadn’t thought about it, but he’d kind of been hesitant to make any kind of move so far because she was kind of reserved about her feelings. He couldn’t tell if she liked him at all, and while he did consider himself a ladies’ man, he was raised by his father and Carter to respect women and their decisions. In all honesty he found her quite beautiful and had thought about making use of their alone time on several occasions over the last week, but he was still getting to know her more.

For some reason, Sage found it adorable that he'd lose track of thought for a moment and start thinking about things that didnt involve studying, and then jerk back into focus, visibly. She was glad that he was giving the whole study thing a good go. After all, he did have to pass the class if he wanted to continue his football career, and she really did want to help him. Of course, she realised that not everyone was as fond of History as she was. She thought it was the bees knees, as far as student classes went, and she was really good at remembering all sorts of pieces of history. It was understandable, though, that some people thought it boring. Like Alec.
When she'd originally spoken to him, he'd been off in one of his dazes, and she couldnt help but chuckle, watching him. She wondered vaguely how long she could go without saying anything about it again. If she holded out long enough, she could probably get a good.. three, maybe four hours out of him? But, she decided to be nice. Only when she placed a slender hand over the page of the history text book he was studying, did he lift his head to look at her, meeting her eyes. Smiling at his sheepish look, she shook her head, "It's okay. I'm glad you're at least trying to study. Even if you do lose track sometimes." she said, smiling softly as she moved, taking the book from him and gently closing it.
Setting the text book down, Sage smiled when he asked her his question, shaking her head, "A couple hours, not that long." she said, tucking her hair behind her ear and looking over at him, her gaze soft, "What would you like to do?" she asked, wondering what he wanted to do during their break. She rarely had any free time to herself on these kinds of occasions. Mostly, when she studied, it was inside her aunts floral shop, so she could work when she took her breaks from studying, and study when she took her breaks from work.
