While Damon and Bonnie were not the greatest of friends, nor did they have the greatest history, Damon had asked her to meet him to discuss some things. Strategies. Although Damon constantly put up a front as to where his brother was concerned, Damon did love his brother. And miss him, for that matter. He could not simply let Stefan go to hell with Klaus, there was no way. He was going to rescue him, even if he had been forced to suck up to Lexi, and now Bonnie as well.
Damon had arranged the meeting by a simple text, asking her to meet him at the Mystic Falls bookstore. It was going to be quiet, but with enough people around that Bonnie would not be able to kill him if she so desired. And Damon was rather wary of her supernatural abilities as a witch. She was strong enough to let him on fire using nothing but a spell and a garden hose, so he had chosen to be careful and watch his back to the best of his ability. Meaning, the location had to be somewhere where they could discuss what was going on, without too many ears listening, and without killing each other.
Hence the bookstore.
Damon dragged a finger across the spine of the books, fingering them each gently. He was in the supernatural section, a piece of irony, and he could not help but chuckle on the books on vampires they had. The Twilight series seemed to be the books they had the most of, the ones that disgusted him to no end. Anne Rice had gotten the vampire world down much better than she had ever realized.
Maybe she was a vampire.
Damon was carefully listening for Bonnie to enter the entire time he browsed, teal eyes focused on the books as he ran his hands down them. The smells and sounds here were interesting, musty, like paper, and every time someone walked in the bell on top of the door twinkled cheerfully.
Most of those around just wanted to find something to read, or to escape into a fun world. But Damon meant business when it came to saving his brother's life, before he completely let the ripper control his life and the demon Klaus along with him.
Damon hated the original hybrid with a burning passion, but he knew he could never take down the original hybrid alone. That was why he was making great sacrifices of his life. Loyalty to Lexi and her mate Lee, and now loyalty to Bonnie. He needed all the help he could get at this point, no matter the cost. Damon would have died to save his brother, because Stefan had saved his life, and then entered this huge mess.
Damon also knew that he was going to have to contact Katherine at some point, to get her help, but he was in denial that he would ever need the doppelganger.
He titled his head to the side as he listened for the footsteps of the Bennett witch.

Bonnie was certainly starting to feel like she was nothing more than a beck and call girl. Everyone only seemed to want her around when they needed her. She grumbled pointedly to herself as she drove down the main street of Mystic Falls in the general direction of the little bookstore off myrtle street. First it had been the brothers before always wanting to meet her, and now his brother had demanded her presence for whatever reason. What she should do is put her foot down. Turn her little car right around and go home. If it was so god damn important for Damon to talk to her, well then he could come to her. Even though she was pretty sure that there was a possibility that she might just kill damon for what he'd done to Elena (and Stefan). She was so full of righteous indignation at being summoned that she nearly did just that. But she continued down the road like a good little push over, and didn’t turn around to go back home no matter how furious the situation made her.
A few moments passed before she pulled up to the curb a little ways down the street from the book store and parked her car. She sat there for several minutes in silence staring out the window and debating about leaving Damon waiting. But in the end, she climbed out of her car with her bag over her shoulder and made her way up to the little book store entrance. She knew him well enough to realize that if she didn’t show up, then he might be inclined to do something drastic (though that had become a less often result latly). And despite her extreme dislike for him, she knew she couldn't put anyone else at risk.
There was only 1 book store in Mystic Falls, and though it was tiny and a bit old fashioned, they did carry pretty much everything you could be looking for and even had a large occult section(though she suspected that this was more of a joke). The little bell tinkled lightly as she pushed the door open, and the smell of crisp pages, and old leather bound tomes wafted lazily towards her. It was a smell she had come to think of as relaxing and calming, but there was nothing calming about being here today, at least not when she knew Damon was lurking somewhere among the dingy shelves like a shark. She smiled lightly at the greeting of the store clerk and moved towards the first row of shelves. If she were a centuries old vampire, where would she be? The supernatural section of course. She rolled her eyes at the sense of irony and moved off to the fantasy section. After rounding yet another shelf into the supernatural section she spotted him perusing the spines of a shelf about 3/4 down the row. “I’m here Damon. What do you want?” Her voice was so cold you could practically see the icicles forming on the words.

Damon wasn't playing around anymore. Klaus had temporarily left him off his leash, while they returned to Mystic Falls. And of course, he was stupid enough to contact someone from his old life while he was there. Bonnie. Yes, he was being selfish and manipulative, but he needed help and he couldn't contact his brother. Although he was considering holding a séance for his little brother, but that would make the pain of his reality sharper and too real. He'd been an asshole to Stefan their entire lives, but it was the way he showed his care for the people around him. After all, that was the way his father had shown him care. And he had no mother to nurture him in better ways.
He could hear the car from afar, and a few minutes later the bell above the door twinkled. He couldn't be entirely sure if it was Bonnie, but it probably was. And judging by the aggravated heartbeat and the smell, it most likely was the little witch. She had never liked him, and he wasn't stupid enough to mess around with her too much. But, he was stupid enough to betray Klaus's trust. Ah well. It wasn't like the hybrid was all knowing, now, was it? He probably had his hybrid spies out on the hunt to make sure that the little slave didn't step out of line.
He didn't glance up from the bookshelf when she finally found him and berated him in that scalding tone that her voice constantly took around him, but he still answered her.
"Nice to see you too, Bonnie."
He finally returned her gaze at that moment.
"I was wondering if you would do me a favor, but it seems you already knew that. I need to see if you can contact Stefan for me."

Bonnie was so aggravated by Damon’s request for her presence that it was no wonder he had known she was coming before she’d even turned the corner into his row. And yet despite that he must know she was angry with him for abandoning Stefan in his time of need, he still felt confident enough to give her sarcasm. It was almost enough for her to give him a brain aneurism despite the consequences of being in a public place. But in a way he was right. She took a steadying breath and flashed him a sarcastic smile when he glanced at her. Not for the first time, Bonnie wished that the Salvatore brothers had never come into their lives and messed everything up. Before they had showed up in town everything was going smoothly. Life was on track, they were about to have their senior year, and they were all finally getting over the shock of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert’s death. By this time of year they would have been spending their time picking out dresses for the prom, not consorting with Vampires or struggling to stay alive. But when Damon spoke next, Bonnie was shocked.
For a moment she forgot how much she disliked Damon for everything he had done to them, and could only stare at him in astonishment. “Y-you want me to contact him? Like from the other side?” She blinked at him in confusion. “Why would you want to do that? It’s your fault he’s dead. I mean you couldn’t even save your own brother, and instead had to run off with our sworn enemy?! And now you want to torment him in death too?!” Her hands clenched into fists and she was fighting the urge to put a curse on him or something. “Why in the hell should I help you do anything?” This time her voice was dangerously low with anger and just a hairsbreadth away from attacking him despite any consequences that may follow. She took a few deep breaths to try to quell her anger not wanting to attract any unwanted attention in the middle of a public book store.
